As you can see, I added a new layout to the site. I got really bored with the other one, even though I liked it. I wanted something summer-ish. And, okay, it's not extremely summer-ish and spectacular, but that picture was taken on the beach in Huntington ;) Let me know what you think, drop a line in the tagboard!
Current A7XFans.com projects: - video section (edited + uploading) - scans (85% scanned) - quotes (sorting out bandmembers) If anyone has any suggestions or ideas for the site, please don't hesitate to contact me :) Again, Graspop 2008Published on July 01, 2008 by Sabine
Last Sunday, June 29th, was the final day of this year's Graspop Metal Meeting festival. It took place in Dessel, Belgium. I do not live in Belgium myself, so I had to travel for a bit, but lucky for me, my brother and two friends of him joined me, so I didn't have to worry about travelling there myself. Yaay!
We basically hung around the Main Stage all day, because that's where the bigger bands would play. Bullet For My Valentine pretty much heated up the crowd for Avenged Sevenfold, so the guys had that in advance. I always enjoy watching the soundcheck, for whatever reason. Matt Berry was looking good as always. Wearing a cap, as always! Jason Berry.. *tear* I think he should grow his hair back again. He looked way too cool, while usually I just want to pinch his cheek and giggle! Anyways, the guys started right on time, 5.50 PM, and kicked in with Critical Acclaim. The moment the guys came on stage, the crowd just went wild and screamed. A few technical problems - nothing big though and I'm sure half of the crowd didn't even notice - but Brian wanted his volume turned up. He pulls the weirdest faces sometimes, it really cracked me up. Matt did a little chat and it was nice to hear so many Avenged Sevenfold fans were present. I really got a kick out of that, so hopefully the guys enjoyed it as well. As I mentioned yesterday, no bottles were thrown on stage (or anything else for that matter). The crowd was pretty damn cool, so for all those people out there talking shit about Europe - do not judge until you've attended to several European shows. To continue, the guys played (in no particular order) Critical Acclaim, Almost Easy, Afterlife, Beast And The Harlot, Bat Country, Second Heartbeat, Unholy Confessions, Walk (Pantera cover - 1 verse, 1 chorus), Scream and.. the one I just cannot recall anymore. Last, but certainly not least.. they just looked hot! You can see so on the pictures I took. I only posted a few good ones, because as I said, they're good a pulling weird faces and quite honestly, we all know they're a bit silly from time to time, but I don't want to make them look ridiculous! ;) This show review and these pictures were written and taken by me, Sabine, the owner of A7XFans.com. Do not copy, edit and/or republish without asking me. I'm a nice person, so just drop me a note. Thanks :) Graspop Metal Meeting 2008Published on June 30, 2008 by Sabine
Yesterday I attended the annual Graspop Metal Meeting festival in Belgium. Seen a bunch of bands play, for instance Apocalyptica, Black Tide, Bullet For My Valentine and Iron Maiden. But the show that really made my day, of course, was Avenged Sevenfold.
I had the chance to take some great pictures of the guys, so look forward to see some of them on the site tomorrow, along with a small show review. ![]() Also, soon the festival photographer will get all the pictures up and I already have his permission to post them here, so stay tuned for those too! In advance, thank you Rudy! FYI: no bottle throwing at this show, whatsoever. See, Europe isn't that bad! ;) Message from M. ShadowsPublished on June 28, 2008 by Jess
Whats up guys? We just started the tour with Maiden and I hear a lot of you guys are getting really worked up about the shows. Lets start with Norway, it was our first time there and we were blown away by the support we received. We can't wait to come back on this tour with Maiden in a few weeks and see you all again. As for Italy, it was our first time opening up directly for Maiden. Now just so you're clear, when we took this tour we knew it was going to be hard and we knew that Iron Maiden fans were very dedicated people. So when we heard a "Sevenfold" chant before we hit the stage we knew it would cause a stir with the crowd, but it made us proud and really got us excited about our fans over in Italy. We heard horror stories about opening for "Maiden." Everything from standing backwards on stage so that the trash coming from the audience didn't hit you in the face to having bottles filled with piss thrown at your head. So after the show we felt pretty good about everything since we got to play for a lot of people and we got to see how many great fans we had there representing. So when you go to these shows don't get upset if people don't understand just yet what Avenged Sevenfold is all about. We are not a straight up metal band that is catering to their audience, we do our own thing and thats why we have so many dedicated fans. We did this same thing 2 years ago with Metallica, the difference then was that we had 40k kids a night with their arms crossed and not many fans. Now we are feeling the love from you guys and the one thing this tour is proving to us is that we need to come back and headline for you all after this is over. So the point is we are having a great time at the shows, and you should too. Don't get all upset about a couple bottles being thrown, next year half those kids may have A7X on their IPOD and we could be their new favorite band. Like I said, we knew what we were signing up for and we are glad so many of you are supporting us through this tour. You are some passionate motherfuckers! See ya'll soon!
